Free servers can install approved plugins from the workshop. Keeping the list vetted helps protect free-tier stability and prevent abuse. A paid plan gives you more freedom to install plugins outside that list.
Yes. You can move from the free tier to a paid plan whenever you need more resources, 24/7 uptime, or additional features. You can also switch between paid plans later. Moving a paid server back to the free tier is not currently supported.
Both Minecraft Java Edition and Minecraft Bedrock Edition servers are supported.
Free servers do not stay running 24/7. Auto-start on join lets players connect when the server is offline and starts it automatically. Paid plans support true 24/7 uptime, while on-demand billing can still reduce costs when you stop the server between sessions.
We do not impose a separate player limit. Minecraft defaults to 20 players, which you can change in the server configuration. The practical player count depends on the free plan's resources, your world, view distance, plugins, mods, and what players are doing.
Free-server storage cannot be retained indefinitely when a server is inactive. Verified accounts generally retain data for about two months of inactivity; data on unverified accounts may be removed after about two weeks.
We send an email before removing a server so you have time to act. Deleted data cannot be recovered, so start the server regularly and keep your account email current.
Minecraft servers are currently available in Europe, North America, Singapore, and Australia. Free-tier capacity can vary by region; choose an available location close to most of your players for the best latency.
